  1. I was in REALLY BAD PAIN

Posted by Binder Kalar on 20th Mar 2012

When I came here to Kinetic Health, I was in really bad pain. The hip, knee, and ankle were really bad. I couldn't put much weight on it. Since I started receiving Active Release Treatments with Dr. Abelson, the pain in my hip is gone, the pain in my ankle is gone, and I have very little pain in my knee. I am sure the pain in my knee will soon be gone too! My head and neck have improved, and I don't need Tylenol anymore. I would recommend this treatment to anyone!

    Talk about the Ultimate Relief!

I was in a lot of pain for over a year because of a very tight muscle knot that was pushing and pressing against a nerve in my back. I went for massages one or two times a month to relieve the pain, but instead of helping, it would tighten the knot, and worsen the pain.

I finally invested in Active Release. WOW!!! Talk about the ultimate relief. Highly recommend it!!!! Worth every penny!

  3. Here's my ART on Plantar Fasciitis testimonial

Posted by Karen on 20th Mar 2012

    HI Dr. Abelson
Here's my ART on Plantar Fasciitis testimonial...

I first met Dr. Abelson about a week before my first half marathon. I didn't know what was wrong with my foot but my heel was so painful that I was walking on the outside edge of my foot (and not running at all). Someone recommended ART so I decided to give it a shot. Once it was determined that I was suffering from plantar fasciitis, I had three sessions of ART (the last treatment was two days before my race), and by race day, not only was I walking normally, but I ran Melissa's road race absolutely pain-free (and proceeded to dance all night!) At the time I thought it was an absolute miracle, and more than 10 years later, I have come to realize that along with regular stretching, strengthening and rest, ART is an important component of my training tool box. Thanks, Dr. A!

So... Just What is Active Release Techniques® or ART?

You have probably heard about Active Release Techniques. And wondered, "What is that? Can it help me? And how does it work? "

"ART is a patented, advanced, movement-based massage system, which is extremely effective for accurately locating the cause of a soft-tissue condition, and then effectively resolving (or greatly improving) overuse and strain/sprain conditions."

Active Release Techniques (ART) is classified as a multidisciplinary procedure that is practiced by numerous practitioners from a wide range of medical professions and disciplines, including Chiropractors, physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Kinesiologists, Occupational Therapists, and Sports Physicians.ART practitioners have a strong scientific foundation in anatomy and physiology. In addition, ART Practitioners combine ART with their years of clinical experience  to effectively resolve and treat soft-tissue injuries.

Release Your Pain is the only book about Active Release Techniques that is written for the public, in easy-to-understand English.

Important Note: This book does NOT teach you how to perform Active Release Techniques®. Training in ART requires extensive knowledge of the soft-tissue structures, their inter-relationships, as well as prior medical training (Medicine, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Massage, etc.). See www.activerelease.com for information about learning how to perform Active Release Techniques. You must already be a qualified medical practitioner to practice Active Release Techniques!

How Can Active Release Technique Help Me?

RYP_ARTTreatment2.jpg

Active Release Techniques offers you a viable solution to pain! As a hands-on technique, ART provides the means for both diagnosing and treating the underlying causes of both cumulative trauma disorders and soft-tissue conditions. These disorders often result in symptoms of weakness, numbness, tingling, burning, aching, and a variety of other physical dysfunctions. The goal of ART is to:

    • Restore optimal tissue texture, tension, and movement.
    • Restore the strength, flexibility, function, and relative translation between soft-tissue layers.
    • Release any soft-tissue restrictions, entrapped nerves, restricted circulatory structures, or lymphatic restrictions.

Whimpering in Pain… to…. Agile and Relieved after ART!

I heard of Dr. Abelson and Kinetic Health from a friend who had been referred to him by their family doctor. For six days I had been struggling with a particularly painful bout of Sciatica. Anti-inflammatories, pain meds, ice paks, stretching….nothing even touched the pain I was experiencing down my entire left leg and into my foot.

I cannot express the degree of relief I felt after taking my painful, whimpering body to see Dr. Abelson for my first treatment of ART. I had a total of six treatments, and each one brought incredible relief. By the end of my treatments, I felt more limber and agile than I had in months, even in years. Talk about getting to the source of the problem. I cannot thank Dr. Abelson enough…and you know the phrase… “You saved my life!”… Thank you so much!

The Benefits of Exercise in Resolving Soft-Tissue Injuries

3404055-running Exercise should be an integral component of all treatment protocols. It is the critical element required to ensure both proper tissue remodeling and to restore full neurological function. In this book, we take time to discuss some of the important effects that exercise has on remodeling and restoring damaged muscles, tendons, nerves, and other soft-tissues. This includes:

  • Phases of Injury Recovery and Tissue Remodeling
  • Importance of remodeling tissue with stretching exercise.
  • Effects of strengtening exercies on tissue remodeling.
  • Biochemical benefits of strengh training.

Exercise is very important through all the phases of tissue recovery and remodeling. Lack of exercise results in decreased oxygen delivery to soft tissues, increased scar tissue formation, and increased muscle atrophy, and can prevent full recovery from the injury.

Equally important, is the type of exercise! It is important to select an exercise routine that addresses more than just the area of injury. Effective exercise routines should address all the structures of the affected kinetic chain. For example, a wrist injury will result in motion compensations occuring throughout the arm and shoulder.  An appropriate exercise routine would address structures througout the hand, wrist, arm and shoulder.

Dr. Abelson has carefully designed exercise routines in this book to do just that. These routines will get you on the path to rehabilitating, activating, and redeveloping your neuro-muscular pathways, and activating all the structures of the kinetic chain.
